With the snow falling down, it’s hard to imagine yourself in those gorgeous halter dresses and bright colored sleeveless tops you keep seeing in the windows at all the stores. But the truth of it is, Spring fashion is upon us, and last week’s New York City buying trip completely proved it. Beautiful bold colors and tiny tank tops sprinkled our path. Here’s what we found the trends will be for Spring 2008:
Brown Leather Belts- The brown leather belt will be your favorite accessory this season. Where it long and looped or knotted. Throw it over a lovely dress and you will be ready to go in just seconds for a spring fling.
Punchy Pigments- This spring, colors like deep icy blue and rich tangerine will help warm up your skin tone and add a little punch to your wardrobe. Go for colors that are a little brighter than pastels, but not too neon.
Cropped Pants- Designers are indulging in this classic style that is worn year after year. But this time, designers are making the cropped pants a little more loose and trouser-like. Pair these with a fabulous shoe and a feminine top and you will be ready for a night out on the town.
Gladiator Sandals- This trend first took us by storm in 2007, and though most of us probably thought the trend would be out for 2008, it turns out, it’s back stronger than ever. The more crazy the straps, colors, and designs, the better the sandal, so don’t be afraid to step out onto a ledge.
Oversized Clutch- It’s not what bag you carry, but how you carry the bag this season. It’s all about the oversized clutch. Wear it in neutral colors to keep your outfit basic, or in bold prints and colors to add a little somethin’ somethin’ to your ensemble. So ignore the handles on your bag and grab that oversized clutch by hand!
High-waisted Skirts- This phenomenon will be as big a hit as the high-waisted jean. Though you may not want to stock up on high-waisted skirts, for fear of the trend dying in 2009, definitely buy a few great pieces to wear throughout the season. These skirts will make you look longer and thinner and will be worn with tops tucked in.
So next time you drive past gray, come on in and try those dresses and sleeveless tops on. I bet when you do, you’ll catch spring fever and be ready to break out of your fashion boundaries!
